One of the things that we’ve been looking for lately is a new kitchen table. Our current table has served us well, lo, these many (8) years, but it’s been time for an upgrade. There are a few problems with our current table:

• It’s too small. Especially with Joel soon to be kicked out of the high chair.
• We only have 2 chairs for it. We’ve always meant to get new chairs for it, but just have never gotten around to it
• It’s a circular table with 2 foldout leaves. One of the leaves broke off the table, so now it can’t ever be the full circular table

So we’ve been browsing around various places. One of the best places for deals like this that I’ve found is Craigslist. If you have never heard of Craigslist, it’s a very handy place. It was started about 10 years ago by a guy (named Craig, duh) who basically just started a site where people could help out other people in various ways in the San Francisco area. It’s grown to a huge site, in 310 cities and various categories (furniture, jobs, for rent, houses, etc).

Anyway I’ve been browsing around the Cincinnati version looking for a table and a piano. I’ve inquired about a few of them, but haven’t found one that’s been a good deal. Recently I came across this one, and things looked good, so we went out and picked up the table this morning. We ended up buying it for $40, and we are happy with it so far

It has a removable leaf that we have left in. It feels kind of weird having a table that is so much bigger than the one that we used to have. Like we need to shout across the table! Or we could actually have company over or put food ON the table?!?! It’s madness.
