So last night was the President’s state of the union address. I’m not really going to comment on anything President Bush said, mostly because I didn’t watch most of it. I will say in preamble that although I voted Libertarian in the last election, I don’t really mind Bush, as opposed to many other people I know who seem to have a seething hatred for him.
In any case, the Bearcats played South Florida last night at 8 PM. (We won woohoo). It was actually somewhat of a big deal that we won since the team isn’t doing very good this year after Huggins was forced out and a bunch of people left / were kicked out / got hurt. We play like 7 players, and one of those is a walk-on football tight end. USF is in last place in the Big East and has not won a conference game, so if we had lost to them, we’d really be in a world of hurt. As it stands, we may not win another game this year.
In any case, I bring this up because the game was televised on the local Fox affiliate, and they actually showed it! As opposed to the State of the Union. Which ties right in to the 2 things I find most annoying about the SotU address.
- Everybody claps after every sentence
- It’s on every channel. I agree that it is an important thing, and should be aired. But nobody has trouble finding it! When the shows that I want to watch (and I don’t watch much TV) get pre-empted to show the same thing that is also on (no joke) 40 other channels, it’s annoying.
Anyways….
